This year, we ran our exciting “Aktioun Hues“, a citizen science project in which nature lovers tracked the brown hare. Thanks to the eager 99 observers, around 250 hares were reported on iNaturalist.

The 16th UN Biodiversity Conference of the Convention on Biological Diversity recently took place in Cali, Colombia. The Mouvement Ecologique had formulated its suggestions in advance and appealed in particular to the Luxembourg government and the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes, to take responsibility for the preservation of biodiversity in Luxembourg.

How can the expansion of renewable energies be accelerated? What hurdles are there?  The government has launched a so-called national consultation on this, particularly with regard to photovoltaics and wind power. The aim of this consultation is to collect all the elements that can help to further accelerate the development of these renewable energies.

Recent changes to the structure of electricity prices have caused some confusion. On the one hand, the regulatory institute – the “Institut de Régulation Luxembourgeois (ILR)” – has decided to change the “grid utilisation fee” in such a way that – to put it simply – peak consumption will become more expensive.

It is now almost three years since the Mouvement Ecologique and natur&ëmwelt jointly lodged a complaint against the Luxembourg government with the EU Commission.

On Wednesday 16 October, the chemical TFA was discussed in the relevant commission of the Chamber of Deputies. This chemical is widespread in Luxembourg’s waters, including in drinking water. This was reason enough for the Mouvement Ecologique to call on MPs to demand a more consistent approach from the government.

The new waste law took effect at the beginning of 2024: One of the important changes is that from now on, you are no longer allowed to receive advertising in your letterbox unless you clearly indicate that you want it by putting a sticker on your door.
