Improve access to information for citizens!

Access to information for citizens is regulated by the law of 14 September 2018 (Loi du 14 septembre 2018 relative à une administration transparente et ouverte). Unfortunately, this is an extremely flawed law. Some MPs were probably aware of this when the law was passed, which is why it was decided during the vote in the Chamber of Deputies to evaluate the implementation of the law two years after it came into force. The Mouvement Ecologique repeatedly insisted that this evaluation should be carried out effectively.

At the end of the last legislative period, the Mouvement Ecologique was invited to a meeting at the Ministry of State, the ministry responsible. The ministry was working on the parameters of a reform. Unfortunately, according to those responsible, this reform text would no longer be available during the legislative period, but a corresponding “note au formateur” would be prepared. These are suggestions from the ministry for the coalition agreement of the new government.

The Mouvement Ecologique does not know whether this “note au formateur” has been drawn up or what its wording would be. However, the reforms presented by the ministry in the meeting largely corresponded to the ideas of the Mouvement Ecologique.

The Mouvement Ecologique has now sent another letter to the responsible minister, Luc Frieden, asking when the evaluation of the law, which was decided when the law was passed, is to take place and in which direction the ministry’s reform proposals are heading.

Affaire à suivre!
