Luc Frieden broke a taboo yesterday by becoming the first Prime Minister to soften Luxembourg’s resolute position against nuclear power, which has been a social consensus since Remerschen and Cattenom. Luxembourg can be proud of having stood for a consistent anti-nuclear policy and for the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energies since the 1980s. This also applies at European level.

If you didn’t have time to sow wildflower seeds in autumn, now is your second chance to get active. In March and April – preferably when a few days of rain are forecasted – you can sow your wildflower seeds, or even just create a wildflower strip. The wildflower seed mix for Luxembourg was created by the Nature Conservation Syndicate SICONA and the Natural History Museum, together with biological stations and other partners. The seed mix is mainly produced by Luxembourg farmers – entirely without the use of pesticides.

For over 20 years, the Ecological Movement and Oekozenter Pafendall have organised the Oekofoire. Thousands of people from far beyond the Ecological Movement gathered there that weekend. It was an important event because it provided concrete information, sparked passionate discussions and enabled many people to meet each other. Oekofoire also marked the start of the autumn environmental political season…
