Three ministries – Home Affairs, Housing and Regional Planning and Environment, Climate and Biodiversity – have presented the ‘Méi a méi séier bauen’ package of measures. There is a need for action in affordable housing construction and the simplification of authorisation procedures. However, the Mouvement Ecologique takes a critical view of the government document and fears disadvantages for nature and quality of life. In two letters to the ministers Serge Wilmes and Léon Gloden, the Mouvement Ecologique has requested further information.

A technology with the misleading name ‘City Trees’ now seems to be gaining a foothold in Luxembourg. The idea: a kind of wooden box with integrated moss-covered panels, which filters the air and cools it down a little, is supposed to replace living city trees… The Mouvement Ecologique strongly advises against this trend

The press release issued by the Mouvement Ecologique on 24 June 2024 has triggered a lot of reactions – from the press, concerned citizens, the Nature Administration (ANF) and the Ministry of the Environment. The European network PAN-Europe (Pesticide Action Network), of which the Mouvement Ecologique is a member, has recently published analyses of the pollution of groundwater and surface water in Europe by the persistent chemical TFA. TFA is a substance that is not degradable and remains in the environment, hence the name perpetual chemical. In contrast, it is highly soluble in water.
