Three ministries – Home Affairs, Housing and Regional Planning and Environment, Climate and Biodiversity – have presented the ‘Méi a méi séier bauen’ package of measures. There is a need for action in affordable housing construction and the simplification of authorisation procedures. However, the Mouvement Ecologique takes a critical view of the government document and fears disadvantages for nature and quality of life. In two letters to the ministers Serge Wilmes and Léon Gloden, the Mouvement Ecologique has requested further information.

The heat revolution is certainly one of the most difficult tasks to be solved in the field of energy transition. Heat networks play a key role in this. Numerous municipalities are aware of this fact and want to push ahead with their construction as quickly as possible.

The press release issued by the Mouvement Ecologique on 24 June 2024 has triggered a lot of reactions – from the press, concerned citizens, the Nature Administration (ANF) and the Ministry of the Environment. The ministry informed the press that the number of actual ‘remarkable trees’ is not decreasing, but actually increasing.

According to information from the Mouvement Ecologique, the finalised national climate and energy plan is to be presented next week. The provisional CO2 balance for the various sectors is to be published by the end of July.

The European network PAN-Europe (Pesticide Action Network), of which the Mouvement Ecologique is a member, has recently published analyses of the pollution of groundwater and surface water in Europe by the persistent chemical TFA. TFA is a substance that is not degradable and remains in the environment, hence the name perpetual chemical. In contrast, it is highly soluble in water.

The Mouvement Ecologique and its Regionale Uelzechtdall have recently lodged an objection as part of the public procedure for the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the planned modernisation of a high-voltage line on the Aach – Bofferdange and Bofferdange – Bertrange route.
