Renaturation of the Mamer and the Uelzecht – Progress is being made, but with small steps

At the end of April, the Mouvement Ecologique and its regional sections in Mersch & surroundings and the Alzette valley invited people to the presentation of the renaturation project of the Mamer and the Uelzecht at the former school in Beringen.

Three representatives from the Water Management Agency presented the projects in an engaging and understandable manner.

It is clear that this renaturation plays a very important role in terms of nature and species protection as well as flood protection. It was interesting to learn from the responsible officials how complex the planning for such a renaturation is. However, many people in the room also had the impression that such important projects should progress more quickly and that it is necessary to seriously discuss what needs to be changed to make this possible (more funds? more staff? perhaps more consistent implementation?…).

Would you like to know exactly what the projects look like? What is the status of developments and what benefits do they bring?

Then the slides from the Water Management Agency will give you an insight. You can find them in French in the downloads here.
