Stands at the Oekofest 2023

ACTORS OF THE TRANSITION

At the Oekofest, you can expect a small but ” selected ” choice of stands. At a dozen stands you will have the opportunity to meet “actors of the transition”. Ideas and projects from organisations, individuals and structures will be presented, each standing for the ecological-social transition in their own way. Whether in the field of climate, energy, reuse, repair, cycling, ” greening” or agriculture. Some of the stands will provide you with concrete advice.

E-COMMUNITY: THE FIRST HUB FOR

RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY IN LUXEMBOURG

This platform was recently founded by a number of organisations. The aim is simple: in a “community” model, everyone should be able to share the renewable electricity they produce with neighbours, friends and family. One person produces too much? He makes it available to others! Someone does not have the possibility to produce electricity himself? They join forces with others? The aim is to become more independent in electricity production and to build up a local market.

Find out more about this extremely exciting concept at the “e-community” stand at Oekofest. Maybe it’s something for you too! By the way: the model can also be very interesting for businesses and others.
And this model also offers an opportunity for older plants that can no longer benefit from the feed-in tariff Those responsible for the platform will be available to answer questions and present the concept.

MINI-SOLAR SYSTEMS AS A

COMPONENT OF THE ENERGY TRANSITION

Visitors to the stand of Marcel Barros will be able to find out all about the fascinating principle behind mini solar panels. How does a solar array like this work? How many of these modules can I install? And what happens if I produce more than I consume? Marcel Barros will be able to answer these questions and many more! During a short presentation (approx. 30 minutes at 2pm, 1st floor of the Oekozenter), he will go into more detail on the subject in a short talk and will also explain the principle of “homemade” batteries!
It’s all the more exciting because photovoltaic systems on balconies can be commissioned without any bureaucratic red tape, making them an essential part of the energy transition.

CLIMATE AGENCY ADVISORS

WILL BE THERE TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS

Climate Agence advisor Nina Weicherding will be expecting you at a stand during the Eco-Festival to answer your questions (procedure, subsidies, frequently asked questions, etc.) on the topics of energy renovation, new construction, renewable heating and electricity generation systems and electromobility.

With the help of practical tools (subsidy simulator, checklist for heat pumps, comparison portal for charging stations …) as well as the explanations of the advisor, you can concretise your project idea or tackle the corresponding implementation steps in an even better informed way.

Take advantage of this opportunity to ask the “questions you have been wondering all along” to the expert of the “Climate Agence”!

GUTT GESCHIER:

SHARING FULLY LIVED OUT

Gutt Geschier is a tool library for anyone interested. Citizens and associations can borrow tools for their DIY and gardening work free of charge. The tools, some of which have been collected by private individuals,
resource centres or businesses, thus form a shared stock. After a check-up, they are returned to the cycle of future users thanks to the online reservation system. In this way, they complete their respective life cycles and contribute to avoiding the purchase and production of new tools as well as unnecessary consumption of energy and resources.
https://www.guttgeschier.lu/

At the Oekofest, the people in charge will present their service in detail, how you can get involved and how you can use it.

BENU VILLAGE:

A PROJECT WITH SEVERAL ASPECTS

– REUSE AND UPCYCLING

One of the projects of BENU Village Esch asbl is BENU REUSE. Here you can search for and order used items online. Anyone – whether a private person, public organisation or commercial enterprise – can offer or accept materials and items. BENU REUSE organises the transport of the items.

benureuse.lu is also an information platform and offers information on the topic of waste reduction and reuse.

For its part, the upcycling tailor shop BENU COUTURE produces high-quality, sustainable clothing and accessories exclusively from used clothing and textiles. A gastronomic concept – BENU SLOOW – with rescued food rounds off the project. Come by Oekofest and discover all the BENU universes!

PRO-VËLO AND VËLO DIDDELENG

FOCUS ON THE BICYCLE

In an “exchange corner”, you will have the opportunity to discuss and exchange with other interested people how to carry out cycling actions at local level. You will learn about “best practice” examples of existing actions across Luxembourg, which will serve as inspiration.
“Vëlo Diddeleng” will use its own example to describe how the creation of a local cycling organisation can take place. Playfully, “Vëlo Diddeleng” will also use a green screen to give you the opportunity to put yourself in places where you have always wanted to cycle – ideal images to raise awareness of cycling on social media.
Likewise, with the help of a large map of the national cycling network, you will be invited to exchange views on the problem spots and possible suggestions for improvement of Luxembourg’s cycling infrastructure.

NATURAL GREEN AREAS

AROUND THE HOUSE

Which herbaceous perennial combinations provide insects with food and habitat throughout the season? Which butterflies and wild bees benefit from the flower-rich range of flower meadows and perennial beds? Why are autochthonous wild plant seeds from “Wëllplanzesom Lëtzebuerg” particularly suitable for the natural greening of gardens and balconies?
The nature conservation / community syndicates SICONA & SIAS advise you on all questions concerning “Natural green areas around the house” and offer the mixtures of “Wëllplanzesom Lëtzebuerg” for sale.

TASTING GARDEN FOR BEES,

BUTTERFLIES AND HUMAN BEINGS

The inspiring project of “Botanika” is being presented. Since 2018, Botanika has been producing and selling edible seasonal flowers, cut flowers, herbs, dried and pressed flowers and flowerfetti (confetti). The variety on offer is impressive, with the accent also on local species.
Here you can find old cut flowers and herbs, some of which used to be available in home gardens. The products are produced without pesticides and other harmful substances. The pollinator-friendly plants provide a nectar-rich oasis for butterflies, bees and other insects.
You are therefore doing something for pleasure, for the eye and for biodiversity. Learn more about Botanika’s philosophy and do something for your palate or simply buy beautiful cut flowers …

AREPAS KRAUTGAART STYLE

Fortunately, solidarity-based agriculture has also developed in Luxembourg in recent years. I.e. the form of agriculture in which the consumer compensates the farmer directly for his services.
“Krautgaart” is certainly one of the pioneers in this field. Together with friends, “Krautgaart” will prepare a South American speciality for you made from their vegetables and local produce. The basis of this treat will
be a sourdough pancake.

TEXTILBOX

Carpets, bed linen, curtains, furniture covers, sportswear – textiles surround us in our everyday lives. But what are they made of? What material are our clothes made of, where are they produced and what happens to them when we no longer need them?

Four percent of the annual global freshwater withdrawal is due to the textile industry. Microplastics, landfilling and uncontrolled consumption of chemicals are further problematic
impacts of the industry. Conscious buying behaviour can set an example against overproduction of clothes and pollution of nature by textiles.

The TEXTILBOX of the Öewersauer Nature Park provides information about the material cycle of the textile industry in a very vivid way with many material samples.
