World Wildlife Day: addressing the major challenges of our time – raising our voice for endangered species!

March 3rd is the World Wildlife Day proclaimed by the United Nations.

Through a symbolic action, the Mouvement Ecologique gave a voice to Luxembourg’s threatened species. The demands are clear: the government must give ecology and the protection of nature a much higher priority.

Even if wars and the housing crisis dominate the news, species extinction and climate change continue. Therefore, these issues must also be an absolute political priority.

Otherwise, we are destroying our own foundations of life. Moreover, the solutions to protect species and the climate also benefit us as human beings: greener towns and villages, food without or with far fewer pesticides, and heat and electricity whose prices are not driven up by oligarchs, etc.

Around 70 people symbolically gave these species a face.

These demands were also presented to Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Environment Minister Serge Wilmes and briefly discussed in a short exchange.
