Vote for more climate protection

With a poster campaign in the capital, young people from the move. and the Mouvement Ecologique reminded us how present the effects of climate change were again this summer and how important it is that we use our vote for more climate protection in the elections on Sunday.

“Five years ago, we were still talking about what the impacts of climate change in the future could be. Today, these impacts are a reality: 2023 was the warmest summer ever recorded. But not only that: human-induced climate change has led to more frequent and occasionally severe weather extremes such as droughts, floods, or tornadoes, causing significant damage in some places. This shows how quickly it can happen and how important it is to make the right political decisions today.

Responsible climate policy means not only taking preventive measures to protect ourselves from these effects of climate change and reduce our emissions as quickly as possible. We also have a responsibility to the countries in the global South, where climate change is already much more noticeable, and they have far fewer financial resources to protect their people.

The good news is that there are elections this Sunday. We can decide who will be in the government in Luxembourg for the next five years and set the political priorities for our country. Is climate protection an issue that matters to you? Then orient your vote on Sunday based on the different parties’ responses to the climate crisis!

As a help, here is an overview of the positions from the respective party programs, including a section on sustainable development and climate protection. This analysis by the Mouvement Ecologique has compared the proposals from their publication “A Roadmap for the Legislative Period 2023-2028” with the various party programs.

You have a choice. Use it, and choose more climate protection on October 8th!”
