STOP CATTENOM: Please sign the petition against extending the operating life of the Cattenom nuclear power station now

Mouvement Ecologique supports the STOP CATTENOM campaign, in which a number of other civil society organisations from the Greater Region are also participating.

For decades, MECO has taken a critical stance on nuclear policy in the Greater Region and has been actively involved in various alliances campaigning against extending the operating life of Cattenom. In the past, it has already been made clear to political decision-makers that, from the perspective of Luxembourg’s civil society, a further extension of operations is unacceptable and that, in the long term, a phase-out of nuclear energy and a consistent energy transition are necessary.

Against this backdrop, the Mouvement Ecologique supports the current campaign and calls on all interested citizens to sign it. Broad participation from civil society sends an important signal that issues of nuclear safety, transparency and the future of energy supply must remain on the political agenda of the Greater Region, and that extending the operating life of Cattenom is not an option.

Despite costly repairs, the fundamental problem of safety pipes prone to cracking remains unresolved and the nuclear risk unpredictable. Furthermore, the massive use of chemicals threatens our Moselle and Luxembourg’s future drinking water supply. We say: Enough is enough! Support the cross-border resistance and help us reach the crucial milestone of 10,000 signatures:
