Oekofest 2023: Live music

11.00 – 12.00 am: POL BELARDI STANDARDS TRIO

Jazz

Back to the roots: in the Standards Trio with Pol Belardi on piano, Pit Dahm on drums and Laurent Payfert on double bass, the focus is on the great composers of jazz history.

Returning to his early favourites, Pol presents a selection of his favourite pieces from the pens of such important masters as Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter, Duke Ellington, Horace Silver or George Gershwin. The trio is rich in spontaneity and clever inter-play, creating their own refreshing versions of the works without losing touch with tradition.

Pol Belardi will musically accompany the official opening of the Oekofest from 10.30 a.m., which will be followed by a live performance.

 

 

 


 

02.00 – 03.00 pm: FUJAZZI

Jazz

The jazz formation “Fujazzi” is characterised by its versatile repertoire, which mainly includes tailor-made arrangements of jazz standards. With its Dutch singer as star guest, the Fujazzi Jazztet offers a varied and entertaining programme at the Oekofest.

Line-up: Edith van den Heuvel ( vocals), Gilles Burgrund (trumpet, bugle), Paul Klein (saxophones alto et soprano), Serguei Khmielevskoi (trombone), Fréderic Janovec ( keyboards), Paulo Simoes ( guitar), Tom Reiff ( contrabass, arrangements), Const Kiffer ( drums).

 

 


 

04.00 – 05.00 pm: IRINA

Folk / Rock

It all started as a musical duo: Irina and Kim met in 2009 and soon they were playing in all the cafés in Luxembourg’s Minett. Shortly after, they recorded their first album, comfortably in their flat. Over time, they realised that expanding the band would bring more fun and variety, so they added many more talents to their musical family and now there are six of them. Their music is dynamic, full of energy and carried by a unique voice. This time, experience IRINA as a trio with well-known and partly newly arranged songs!

 

 

 

 


 

06.00 – 07.00 pm: THE COOKIES

Funk / Pop

The Cookies are a new, young and talented band founded in October 2020. The band combines hip-hop, Luxembourgish rap, pop, Latin, funk and R&B allowing them to generate their own unique style. Their rapper and their lead singer perform a varied program including self-written and
arranged songs. Their style of music perfectly conveis their free spirits and good vibes, getting you into the right, chill mood! All the members of “The Cookies” have a different background, which translates to their wide variety on a musical, as well as on a human level.

 

 

 


 

08.00 – 09:00 pm: NEA LONE

Organ Pop

Organ player, singer and songwriter Nadja Prange has unveiled her new project “Nea Lone”, an Alter Ego, who is drawn to the complexities of the human condition. Nea Lone presents a fresh twist on pop music. With a unique integration of the Hammond organ into modern soundscapes, she introduces a captivating new genre known as „Organ Pop“. This blend combines elements of Jazz, Hip Hop and Pop with a touch of Neo Soul.

 

 


 

09.30 – 10.30 pm: FRED BARRETO GROUP

Blues-Rock

 

Brazilian guitarist, Fred Barreto is one of a kind! He is one of those musicians who are recognizable from the first notes played! Barreto means serious when it comes to playing solid Rock or raw Blues and there’s no need to try finding similarities with other guitar players: Fred Barreto is an accomplished guitarist and does his own « thing » with great talent,virtuosity and soul. When teaming up with Nadja Prange (organ), Daniel Fastro (bass) and Michael Stein (drums), theyform Fred Barreto Group, or just, FBG. This passionate Luxembourg-based Blues-Rock Quartet
combines the timeless energy of Rock music and the soulful vibes of Blues with a new-fashioned, distinctive character and vibrant drive, which can be felt and heard especially during their live performances.

From Django Reinhard to Georges Brassens, Jacques Brel to the great American songs, the Philippe David Trio plays the really great classics, with a lot of humour and a jazzy touch (with Philippe David, Michele Ciccone, Rom Heck).
