Register your tree at the “Naturverwaltung” as a remarkable tree!
Do you have a tree in your garden or other property that you feel deserves to be recognised as remarkable?
Is it particularly old, or of imposing stature? Or does it even play a role in the history of your village?
Then register it with the nature conservation authority as a ‘remarkable tree’!
These trees may only be destroyed or damaged for phytosanitary reasons or reasons of public benefit, and then only with ministerial authorisation. In addition, the owners benefit from higher subsidies for the maintenance of these particularly worthy specimens.
As you may remember, the Mouvement Ecologique criticised the new edition of the list of ‘Arbres remarquables’ (remarkable trees) in the summer because it was much too small and no longer included many trees that had previously been considered remarkable. The dossier was then discussed and the list should remain open to additions.
Enquiries about listing such trees can be sent to the following e-mail addresses (with details of the location and a photo):
michel.leytem@anf.etat.lu or martine.neuberg@anf.etat.lu
Please feel free to put natur@oeko.lu in copy of your request so that we can stay up to date with you.
