Objection of the national action committee against nuclear power – the Netherlands plans to build new nuclear power plants

As part of the transnational consultations on the construction of new nuclear power plants in the Netherlands, the National Action Committee against Nuclear Power – in which Mouvement Ecologique is also active – has formulated a statement. In this statement, the Action Committee rejects the construction of new nuclear power plants in the Netherlands, as important information is missing from the transnational consultation. The inconsistencies between the Dutch government’s targets for carbon-neutral electricity production by 2035 and the role of nuclear energy highlight the uncertainties surrounding the Dutch government’s intentions. It also emphasises that the omission of the zero option in the consultation and other documents is problematic. Furthermore, the National Action Committee points out that Luxembourg could be affected by the impact of a new nuclear power plant in the Netherlands in the event of an accident.

“As part of the transnational consultations on the construction of new nuclear power plants in the Netherlands, the “National Action Committee against Nuclear Power”, in which Mouvement Ecologique is also active, has formulated the following statement”.
