You too can sign! No to glyphosate!
European Citizens’ Initiative to ban glyphosate – mobilisation also in Luxembourg
In order to express the broad opposition of numerous citizens against the use of glyphosate and for a definitive ban, a Europe-wide citizens’ petition was launched.
A total of 1 million signatures are needed for the EU Commission to take up this issue. For Luxembourg, this means, according to the established rules for a citizens’ petition, that 4,500 citizens must support the petition with their signatures.
The goals: A ban on glyphosate-based herbicides, a reform of the pesticide authorisation process and the setting of EU-wide mandatory reduction targets for pesticide use.
The Mouvement Ecologique, together with Greenpeace and “natur & ëmwelt”, is participating in this citizens’ petition. Become active too and support the Europe-wide action! Every signature counts!
It is now up to us citizens to raise our voices and call on politicians to act in the interest of people and the environment.
Neen zu Glyphosat!
Glyphosat gilt als eines der meistbenutzten Pestiziden auf dem Markt. Weltweit werden jährlich mehrere hundertausende Tonnen dieses Unkrautvernichtungsmittels ohne Rücksicht auf potenzielle Schäden versprüht.
Im März 2015 stufte die internationale Krebsforschungsagentur (IARC) der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) Glyphosat als “wahrscheinlich krebserregend” (2A) für den Menschen ein. Doch schon bereits seit längerem steht dieses Herbizid im Verdacht Krebs auszulösen.
Allerdings trägt nicht nur der Mensch alleine die Konsequenzen dieses Gifteinsatzes. Auch die Natur und Umwelt leiden unter den Folgen seiner Verwendung. Glyphosat belastet unsere Böden, die Gewässer sowie die Artenvielfalt in unserer Natur.
Es gilt also zu handeln: dies ist gerade jetzt wichtiger denn je! Nachdem nämlich die Europäische Kommission am 20. Oktober 2015 die ursprünglich bis Ende 2015 geltende Zulassung von Glyphosat in einer ersten Phase bis zum 30. Juni 2016 und in einer weiteren Phase sogar bis Ende 2017 verlängerte, steht für dieses Jahr eine definitive Entscheidung auf EU-Ebene an. Auf diese müssen wir Einfluss nehmen!
