The Oekosoph is officially reopened: come and visit us!
On 25 February, the official “reopening of the Oekosoph” took place in front of a whole host of invited guests. Among the 130 registered guests were politicians, representatives of the Pfaffentaler Interessevereins, neighbours, suppliers, friends of the new operators, officials from the City of Luxembourg, the previous operator Lou Steichen, members of friendly organisations and the Mouvement Ecologique.
The weather cooperated, allowing the large number of guests to toast the “new Oekosoph” comfortably on the terrace.
During the official part of the event, Théid Faber, President of the Oekozenter Pafendall, welcomed the guests and thanked everyone who had supported the “refurbishment” of the “Oekosoph” premises (including the City of Luxembourg and Brasserie Simon), as well as the previous operator and the Oekosoph’s volunteer team. Above all, however, he emphasised the importance of the Brasserie: as a meeting place in the idyllic Pfaffental valley and for exchanges between citizens interested in sustainability issues; as a “catering service” for seminars and conferences held at the Oekozenter; and for promoting organic, vegetarian and vegan food.
As an ideal setting for collegiality, exchange and cosy get-togethers, the “Oekosoph” with its offerings for organisations such as the Mouvement Ecologique and the Oekozenter Pafendall also has an important social significance. As for the new operators, Grégory and Elis, they impressed from the outset with their commitment, openness and expertise. We wish them every success, he concluded.
Maurice Bauer, the alderman responsible for the City of Luxembourg, began by thanking everyone present and the new operators. He also sees the Oekosoph as an important part of Pafendall, as a meeting place and a place where different people can exchange ideas. Alongside local associations, the Atelier Zeralda, the Canopée initiative and the youth hostel, among others, the Oekozenter and the Oekosoph are an integral part of the Pfaffental district. That is why the City of Luxembourg was happy to participate in the renovation. He has always appreciated the food at the Oekosoph, looks forward to continuing to visit the Oekosoph and also wishes this attractive place every success.
The last speaker was Grégory Muller, accompanied by his partner Elis Candeias Tomas, the new operators. Grégory Muller emphasised how positively he viewed their work as operators of the Oekosoph. Both had given up their previous secure jobs at and were now taking on their new role with great enthusiasm. The Oekosoph was a project close to their hearts, and they greatly appreciated the location and the friendly guests. Their conviction was to serve delicious organic (and, where possible, regional) and seasonal dishes, accompanied by an attractive wine list, in a cosy atmosphere. Special events were also planned after an initial start-up period.
The variety of appetisers served to guests with the usual drinks afterwards offered a foretaste of the quality of the food on offer.
All in all, it was a very successful reopening of this brasserie with its friendly owners, as the photos show.
