Informative exchange with ALVA – Luxembourg’s Veterinary and Food Administration

Recently, Mouvement Ecologique had an exchange with ALVA officials. The exchange came about as a result of a statement by Mouvement Ecologique commenting on the pesticide residues that ALVA had analysed in foodstuffs.

There was a lively exchange about ALVA’s competences and the EU requirements for such analyses. ALVA emphasised its neutrality on this issue and the high standards it sets for the technical and scientific quality and complexity of its analyses. At the same time, Mouvement Ecologique pointed out the importance of presenting these analyses in a way that is easy to understand for interested citizens and associations, objectively explaining the differences in contamination levels between organic and conventionally produced food.

Overall, it was a constructive exchange in which the views of the various stakeholders were heard.
