The Mouvement Ecologique speaks with the parties, in the context of the coalition negotiations between the CSV and the DP
The Mouvement Ecologique, as well as the Council for Sustainable Development, were invited to participate in an exchange with representatives of the CSV and DP delegations in Senningen on Monday, October 16, as part of the coalition talks.
It is a long-standing tradition for parties to seek external opinions during coalition negotiations, including from trade unions, employers’ associations and administrations. However, it is a first that Meco was also invited, which is very positive.
Overall – after a presentation of the suggestions by the Mouvement Ecologique as well as the Sustainability Council – a lively exchange took place. For the Mouvement Ecologique it was central in this context that one could discuss about the ways how climate and biodiversity protection should be achieved. Certainly, one needs the acceptance of the population and the social actors for this. However, the goals that need to be achieved should not be up for debate.
The discussion also focused on questions of acceptance; the primary instruments to be used; and how to achieve a balance between the various interests, among others.
